Nation Portrait Gallery Operation London 2013

When you stand in the Tudor portrait section of the gallery you realise how important the monarchs were, how significant they were and the gold frames and masterpiece paintings show the person was of such value. Surrounded by other museum visitors you catch how important, valuable and significant each and every one of us is to God. So it was time to tell people!

The children drew pictures from God for people visiting the gallery. Having stopped in a quieter wing and asked Father for details the children sketched a series of images that spoke value and significance to the people that we met. These images were pictorial rather than actual portraits but they heard what God said and they gave them to the people who needed to hear the message.

Following our visit we attempted to sketch in Trafalgar Square, but the bustling place didn’t really allow for that so we set off with our party bags and spare drawings to bless as many people as we could. The children spread out handing out medals to show how important God says that they are. Bags of Haribo were being given to all sorts of people from Morris dancers, to buskers, to people handing out hugs to business people stopping for a lunch break. It was great to see children changing their nation with God by giving blessing to all they met.

Feedback from the mission:

We went to the National Portrait Gallery and drew pictures to give to people in Trafalgar Square. In Trafalgar Square we gave out medals and sweets and we also blew bubbles. We met a policeman and talked to him. We went past 10 Downing Street (almost!). We had a good time. (Kerstin)

In Trafalgar Square I gave out pictures of portraits with little messages on them. I met a lady called Denise from Germany but who lived in Lambeth. I gave her a picture of God’s armour and the Holy Spirit filled her. After a couple of minutes, she started crying. I felt very pleased and happy for her. I asked her if I could pray for anything, and she said that I could pray for children. After that, she smiled and me and I gave her the name of out of our churches near to where she lived. I went away feeling joyful and contented. (adult)

God said he will deposit / imprint images on their minds of our children/youths about what he is doing now and will be doing in the future. He said our kids may not be able to express the pictures verbally in adult language. So allow them to express his messages in pictures, drawings. He said a picture says a lot, it paints a message of more than 1000 words. (Audrey)

I went to Trafalgar square and I gave a picture to someone (Mark)

While walking home a girl was having real joy with our bubbles catching them behind us. (adult).

I went to the National Portrait Gallery and when we were in Trafalgar square I gave a lady the medal and told her God thinks she is special and she asked us to pray for her. We prayed for her!

St Thomas’ Hospital – Operation London 2013

There were 27 expectant children with their leaders who headed to St Thomas’ Hospital ready to bless the community and pray powerfully for God’s healing and presence! God did far more than we could have ever imagined at Operation Heal The Sick!

We gathered in the Chapel with 2 of the Chaplaincy Team – Nana and Owen. We heard about their personal stories of faith and how they work at the hospital to support many patients, families and staff.

Our group had a tour around the children’s hospital – an amazing building with many challenging situations. The children had opportunity to pray for numerous children and their families – some of Christian faith and others of no faith. These families were blessed by the group and handed out sweets and asked about our mission.

Back at the Chapel, the children prayed powerfully for the children and families. One of our group gave her Bible for a family that she had met. Children received pictures and words for those in the hospital. The children produced some beautiful ‘heart art’ to give to others with messages of God’s love, hope and healing. Children also wrote prayers on plasters and focused on our healing God.

There was time for a young boy in our group to play the grand piano in the hospital corridor. Beautiful music filled the hospital and God’s presence was noted by many.

The children prayed for the Chaplains and God was very tangible. Owen, one of the Chaplains spoke words of prophecy into lives of individual children and leaders.

An amazing experience of God bringing together CCN with the hospital community and blessing us all.

Feedback from the Children on Operation Heal The Sick;

We were able to pray for Bentley, Joshua, William and Thomas. They all needed our prayers (Harry)

After our tour of the hospital we got the opportunity to do some heart art. I felt that I saw a picture of lots of different size circles all grouped together. There was a gold circle in the middle I did not know what it meant. But later Rowan said that she had an image, words saying that each person has different sized problems and it takes one person full of faith to spread to the sick and give strength (Maja)

We prayed for many people. I hope they are helped and become closer to God. I will continue to pray for everyone there to be healed.

I read a prayer request book and there was a very powerful and desperate prayer, asking God for a sign. I felt God telling me that I should make that sign. So I wrote down lots of ideas and verses. Some were from a song “ Together we’ll be, forever a sign, of the worship of Jesus, in love unified”. I hope they get this and know God better. I put their name on it and it singed from a fellow Christian soldier! (Rowan)

I prayed for a little baby and the parents were really happy and also we met Owen and he prayed for us and I could really feel God’s presence.

We saw lots of amazing things at the hospital. Thank you God for you presence and your love in the world! Help all the children in the hospital!! (Morgan).

We went to the hospital. What a blessing! I was not expecting that! The staff for the chapel were so joyful!! I was so touched it made me cry hearing from people from Africa. My heart is Africa. One of them prophesied I bring joy and will be a teacher not only with children but teaching God’s word. That’s been my vision since I was small! God knows, God loves! So exciting. (Hannah J)

God really encouraged me to continue to pray for the sick and people in hospitals. Opportunities to write prayers to God but for certain people J

I got to reach out for God and call for his Holy Spirit to fill the hospital. (Ellen)

God really stuck a large wedge in this slightly ajar door. We had opportunities for children to pray for sick children despite being told this would not be possible. The chaplaincy team were incredible, spirit filled and warm. Owen gave us a tour and actually sought opportunities to allow the children to pray whilst honouring hospital policy. We were privileged to pray for them and them for us.

Felt very spiritually powerful, the start of something huge. So encouraging to see the kids expecting miracles and being almost frustrated they couldn’t lay hands on the children. Really powerful to bless and encourage the chaplains. (adult)

Owen is a little boy 9 months old. We had been asked to pray for him when we were in the chapel. Owen is on kidney dialysis awaiting open heart surgery. His parents were present. We prayed through the glass wall. Owen’s mummy and daddy waved and smile. Owen’s daddy came out to us and gave all the children him sweets. When we left the hospital Owen’s parents were leaving too. Owen’s mummy thanked us for praying. They believe in Jesus healing and his mummy said He is getter better and as soon as the dialysis is stabilised he will have his heart surgery. They say thank you to all the children for praying for Owen. (adult)

When I was at the hospital I got prophesied over and I’m going to be in a worship band and worship on tv and other things.

I felt the presence of God before me and if I closed my eyes, I could see him in front of me touching my hand.

I first went to go to look at a child hospital and I thought it was great! Then we went to see the chapel. Then last but not least we went to go and see our friend Richard and we prayed for him.

Today was great in the children’s hospital. We saw Richard.

Today we went to the BBC and prayed for Steve and Janet. It was lots of fun because I met some new people and saw some new places.

We went to 10 Downing Street. We prayed for 3 people. It was very cool. Then went to the Abbey and prayed it was awesome.

We prayed for a lady in hospital. She got very touched.

Today I went to St Thomas Hospital. I felt God in every room. I prayed for this little girl and once I finished she smiled at me. I felt that she felt something.

We had a great day praying at Operation London 2012.

A man gave me real money just because I gave him a chocolate coin. (Sophie)

We climbed all the way to the top of St Pauls cathedral. We handed out chocolate coins. (Ebun)

We gave chocolate coins to the bankers. When we gave them we said,” may God bless you”. It was very fun and it was great. It was a good day. (Hannah)

In the BBC studio we used a blue cloth to make me invisible. You could only see my head!

Lord, bring prosperity to the BBC and bring peace to those watching and working.

I climbed all the way to the top of St Paul’s cathedral and blew bubbles. Then I gave 6 chocolate coins away.

G.R.E.A.T. Amazing. Make me more confident with praying out loud.

We prayed for the baby’s with heart problems and the people in intensive care. We prayed for the doctors and nurses.

I liked it because we could explore the hospital and pray for different things.

The Lord taking over and blessing the BBC.

We prayed at the Match of the Day studio, especially for the Euro 2012. Steven prayed for the concerns of it and I prayed that the players would do well and no accidents.

We went to the BBC to pray. Lord bring peace to the BBC and the nation.

Today we had the very bid opportunity of trying to change the lives of many. There were no problems today so going to the BBC was great. We went to many different rooms. Trying to make the world a better place.

I prayed for healing to happen and I felt it had happened straight away!

I prayed for the doctors there and I was running along the glass and when I got to a doctor I felt a tingle in my hand!

I prayed for a little girl who had trapped her finger in the door and it was dangling off and the doctors had sewn it back on!

We prayed at the stage door for people passing through. We prayed that as soon as they walked through the doors, all of their troubles would get washed away.

AWESOME!

On Friday, our group went to the hospital. We looked around and prayed for them. Then we spoke to this woman called Maureen. She had been praying for children before she came and she was touched by us praying for her. Then we came back. It was GREAT!!

It was amazing to take a step back and let the kids run with God and see them hear from God, step out boldly and sensitively and God work through them!

We prayed for a woman and her little child and I think God has warmed the woman’s heart, because I think she thought that someone was looking out for her daughter.

In Operation London I prayed in chapel and prayed for play specialists which help children.

My experience was seeing Richard ( a friend from church) and praying for him and going to the hospital.

Today when we were declaring the greatness of God over the BBC I really felt the greatness of God shaking the foundation of the BBC and every studio will be declaring the goodness of God.

Operation heal the sick. It was great! I got to pray for another Christian man with a bleeding thumb. I’ve learnt that no matter what you’ve been given from God somebody will always match it/it relates to somebody.

I have learnt that if I can push myself I can achieve great things! I think Operation London was a great experience and I want to do it again next year.

We went to the hospital and we prayed for a lady. She got touched and felt like crying she was happy!!

They laid hands on the outside wall of the London Stock Exchange and prayed for successful trading, and handed out to passersby chocolate coins symbolizing they were valuable to God.

We gave chocolate coins to the bankers. When we gave them we said,” may God bless you”. It was very fun and it was great. It was a good day. (Hannah)

After a tour of the studios, they declared God’s rule and reign over the airwaves.

In the BBC studio we used a blue cloth to make me invisible. You could only see my head! Lord, bring prosperity to the BBC and bring peace to those watching and working.

Today we had the very bid opportunity of trying to change the lives of many. There were no problems today so going to the BBC was great. We went to many different rooms. Trying to make the world a better place.

There they asked the Holy Spirit to give them messages of love, which they wrote on postcards and presented to those patients and staff God directed them to. They also prayed for healing for several individuals, including an injured toddler and a coma patient whose family requested the children’s prayers.

Some kids and leaders quotes:

Today I went to St Thomas Hospital. I felt God in every room. I prayed for this little girl and once I finished she smiled at me. I felt that she felt something.

G.R.E.A.T. Amazing. Make me more confident with praying out loud.

We prayed for the baby’s with heart problems and the people in intensive care. We prayed for the doctors and nurses.I liked it because we could explore the hospital and pray for different things.

I prayed for the doctors there and I was running along the glass and when I got to a doctor I felt a tingle in my hand!

Operation heal the sick. It was great! I got to pray for another Christian man with a bleeding thumb. I’ve learnt that no matter what you’ve been given from God somebody will always match it/it relates to somebody.

Westminster Abbey

In the grounds of Westminster Abbey the children were given keys with tags attached. One of the leaders explained, “We want you to encourage the person you’re going to give your key to. Who God says they are is the key to unlocking their heart. So ask God what He wants to say, and write it down on your tag.” They also prayed about whom to give their keys to, then handed them out to surprised tourists and passersby.

The final mission included a guided tour around Westminster’s shrine of St Edward the Confessor, who built the original abbey. Public access is restricted there but the children were warmly welcomed. They prayed for the Queen and declared the positive and influential role the church has in the nation.

Downing Street

At 10 Downing Street a small delegation handed over a petition about the e-Safety campaign which seeks to protect children from inappropriate Internet content. They were rewarded with an unexpected meeting with Shaun Bailey, special adviser to the Prime Minister on youth issues, and were able to pray for him.

On their way past the Houses of Parliament, the group inadvertently ran into Brad Hawkes from New Generation – an organisation equipping youth for creative outreach in schools, and Clive Ireson from the Association of Christian Teachers. There on the pavement, all three organisations were prayed for.
